<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved labyrinth seal. <P>SOLUTION: A labyrinth seal comprises a plurality of arcuate labyrinth seal segments 10, 12 in which the confronting ends of adjacent arcuate labyrinth seal segments 10, 12 have planar faces 26.
