<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-line ultrasonic flaw detection method for a mill roll capable of detecting occurrence and progress of cracking in a surface layer part of a mill roll, and a mill roll used for the method. <P>SOLUTION: An ultrasonic flaw detection method for a mill roll has a housing hole for housing an ultrasonic probe which extends from an end surface toward inside of a roll axis part coaxially with a rotation axis of a roll at a rotation axis part and houses one side of a rotation body for which an ultrasonic probe is disposed inside of a housing hole. A crack is detected by emitting and propagating an ultrasonic wave from the ultrasonic probe toward the surface of the outer layer of the roll from the inner surface of the housing hole and receiving the reflection wave from the crack present on the surface layer part of the outer surface of the roll. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
