<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve device of an internal combustion engine, capable of appropriately lubricating each portion of an internal combustion engine with oil and appropriately operating a valve characteristic varying mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: The oil pressure in a first hydraulic circuit 3 for supplying oil, discharged from an oil pump 2, to each portion of an internal combustion engine is adjusted so as not to be equal to or higher than a first set value S1 by an operation of a first relief valve 18. In a second hydraulic circuit 4 connected to the first hydraulic circuit 3 for supplying and discharging oil for the operation of a valve timing varying mechanism 1, the oil pressure in a supply passage 27 is adjusted so as not to be equal to or more than a second set value S2 lower than the first set value S1, by operation of a second relief valve 33. The first set value S1 is determined to be a value within the oil pressure range of the first hydraulic circuit 3 necessary for lubrication. The second set value S2 is determined to be a value within the oil pressure range of the second hydraulic circuit 4 capable of appropriately operating the valve timing varying mechanism 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
