<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing carbonyl chloride with a very low impurity content and a good hue while markedly reducing an excess amount of carbon monoxide. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a method for continuously producing carbonyl chloride comprising continuously feeding chlorine (A mol) and carbon monoxide (B mol) into a reaction system having a catalyst, condensing the formed carbonyl chloride in a condenser, and part of the remaining gas based on carbon monoxide is recirculated to the reaction system, the method being characterized in that the carbon monoxide (B mol) to be fed comprises fresh carbon monoxide (B1 mol) and the recirculated carbon monoxide (B2 mol), and the following formulae (1) and (2) are satisfied.
