<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus determinable of the ventilation characteristics of a subject. <P>SOLUTION: A biometric apparatus 1 includes a bioelectrical impedance measuring part 200 measuring a bioelectrical impedance of a specific site of the body, and a CPU 170. The CPU 170 controls the bioelectrical impedance measuring part 200 to measure a first bioelectrical impedance Za of the upper part of the trunk including the upper lobes of the lungs of the subject and excluding the abdomen of the subject, and a second bioelectrical impedance Zb of the middle part of the trunk including the median and lower lobes of the lungs and the abdomen.
