<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical switch capable of lowering a loss both in switching of optical path and in the multiplexing/demultiplexing state. <P>SOLUTION: An optical switch comprises: a first optical waveguide; a second optical waveguide; a first optical coupler formed by connection between the first optical waveguide and the second optical waveguide; a second optical coupler; and optical path length control means provided at a part sandwiched between the first coupler at the second optical waveguide and the second optical coupler. The optical path length control means has: a function for controlling light of two wavelengths that passes through the optical path length control means so as to equalize a phase of light of the same wavelength that passes through the second optical coupler on an output side; and a function for controlling a phase difference in light of the same wavelength that passes through the second optical coupler after passing through the first optical waveguide and the second optical waveguide so as to make the light of one wavelength 0 and make the light of the other wavelength π. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
