METHOD FOR ACTIVATING NITROGEN METABOLISM MICROORGANISM, AND BIOREACTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a nitrite reducing microorganism which reduces nitrite ions to nitrogen gas or nitrite oxidizing microorganism which oxidizes nitrite ions to nitrate ions exist and function in a treatment tank, etc., selectively and at high concentration.

SOLUTION: An electrode is immersed in a culture liquid containing at least one nitrogen metabolism microorganism of nitrite reducing microorganism having a nitrite reducing ability and nitrite oxidizing microorganism having a nitrite oxidizing ability, an organic substance, and oxidation/reduction substances; and the nitrogen metabolism microorganism is cultured while applying to the electrode such potential that the speed of reduction of nitrite ions when nitrite ions are dissolved in the culture liquid is further increased than when the potential is not applied to the electrode.
