<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high quality piston by effectively impregnating and compounding a compound reinforcing material with molten metal without damaging it, and also avoiding a chilled object of molten metal to be sealed in a cavity. <P>SOLUTION: A compound reinforcing material 5 is installed in the bottom face of a cavity 10 of a die M. The die M is provided with a plurality of gates 22 pointing to the ceiling surface of the cavity 10 opening at the bottom face of the cavity 10 lateral to the radial direction of the compound reinforcing material 5, and a plurality of overflow outlets 23 opening in the ceiling surface of the cavity 10 in a position opposedly facing to these gates 22. By injecting a molten metal 30 toward the overflow outlets 23 from the gates 22, after discharging the molten metal 30 which pass through the cavity 10 first from the overflow outlets 23, the compound reinforcing material 5 is impregnated with the molten metal 30, while the cavity 10 is pressurized and filled up with the molten metal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
