METHOD FOR PRODUCING HARD COAT FILM, POLARIZING PLATE, AND IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a hard coat film provided with a hard coat layer that exhibits high hardness even when a film thickness of the hard coat layer is small and that is excellent in adhesion to a base film.

SOLUTION: The method for producing a hard coat film includes the steps of: forming an ultraviolet curable layer by coating an ultraviolet curable resin composition on a transparent base film which absorbs ultraviolet having a wavelength not more than the specific wavelength; radiating the first ultraviolet from the transparent base film side, the first ultraviolet exhibiting the maximum emission intensity outside the range of the ultraviolet wavelength which the transparent base film absorbs; and radiating the second ultraviolet from the ultraviolet curable layer side, the second ultraviolet exhibiting the maximum emission intensity within the range of the ultraviolet wavelength; in this order. The ultraviolet curable resin composition contains: a first photopolymerization initiator which has at least one absorption maximum outside the range of the ultraviolet wavelength which the transparent base film absorbs; and a second photopolymerization initiator which has absorption maximum only within the range of the ultraviolet wavelength.
