The present invention relates to a metal closure a sidewall and a separate disc which forms a top plate of the closure. More definite, the invention relates to a method of manufacture a metal closure comprising the steps of: - drawing a closure blank (1') from a metal sheet having a top plate and a sidewall depending from the periphery of the top plate, and - cutting the sidewall of the closure blank adjacent to the top plate to produce a disc (10') and a circumferential ring (20'), both having a cut edge. The step of manufacturing the disc (10') and the circumferential ring (20'), by cutting vertically depending sidewall blank in the vicinity of the top plate to produce the ring (20') and disc (10') respectively.
