The procedure for extracting hydrogen sulfide from a gas such as natural gas containing aromatic hydrocarbons consists of putting the gas in contact with an absorbent solution to produce a gas poor in hydrogen sulfide and an absorbent solution charged with hydrogen sulfide. The solution is heated under pressure to a temperature that releases a gas fraction containing at least 50 per cent of the aromatic hydrocarbons and not more than 35 per cent of the hydrogen sulfide contained in the absorbent solution. The absorbent solution poor in aromatic hydrocarbons is then thermally regenerated to release a gas effluent rich in hydrogen sulfide and leave a regenerated absorbent solution that can be recycled. The absorbent solution can be an amine such as methyldiethanolamine or diisopropanolamine in water, or selected from the group comprising sulfolane, methanol, N-formyl morpholine, acetyl morpholine, propylene carbonate, dimethyl ether polyethylene glycol or N-methyl pyrrolidone.
|
