<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composition for an active matrix-type liquid crystal display element having a broad temperature range of a liquid crystal phase and low viscosity, and an active matrix-type liquid crystal display element using the liquid crystal composition. <P>SOLUTION: The nematic liquid crystal composition contains a compound expressed by structural formula (1) in an amount of 35-65% as the first component and a compound expressed by general formula (3) as the second component. In formula, R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>represents an alkyl group etc., and B<SP POS="POST">4</SP>and L<SP POS="POST">4</SP>each represents a linking group, such as a single bond. The liquid crystal composition has very low viscosity, a stable nematic phase at low temperature, and a broad temperature range of a liquid crystal phase, controls refractive index anisotropy in a broad range, and is useful as a constitution member of the active matrix-type liquid crystal display element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
