<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain ZrB<SB POS="POST">2</SB>powder of platy single crystal particles which is suitable for producing an oriented ceramic of ZrB<SB POS="POST">2</SB>. <P>SOLUTION: Zirconium powder, boron powder, silicon powder and transition metal powder such as Mo, Nb, Ti or W powder are mixed by, for example, ball milling. Next, the obtained mixture is heated at a temperature of 500-2,000°C to cause a solid phase reaction between zirconium and boron in contact with liquid silicon under the active catalyst effect of the transition metal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
