<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively suppress the falling of an element of a steering shaft in a steering device for a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: A column shaft 4 includes an upper shaft 14 and a lower shaft 15 which are coaxially connected to each other. A first ball bearing 33 rotatably supports the top end 141 of the upper shaft 14. A second ball bearing 34 rotatably supports the lower shaft 15. The device comprises a first bushing 36 held by the lower shaft 15 to rotatably support the bottom end 142 of the upper shaft 14, and a second bushing 37 held by the upper shaft 14 to rotatably support the top end 151 of the lower shaft 15.
