<p>Preparation of a polylactone or polylactame comprises reacting lactone or lactam with a non-polymer initiator, in a non-chlorinated aromatic solvent in the presence of a sulfonic acid. Preparation of a polylactone or polylactame comprises reacting lactone or lactam with a non-polymer initiator, in a non-chlorinated aromatic solvent in the presence of a sulfonic acid of formula R-SO 3H. R : 1-20C alkyl, branched or cyclic 3-20C alkyl (substituted by one or more substituents of oxo, F, Cl, Br or I), aryl group (substituted by 2-20C alkyl, branched or cyclic 3-20C alkyl (where the alkyl is substituted by at least one of halo (F, Cl, Br or I) or nitro)), halo (F, Cl, Br or I), nitro or CR1R2R3; R1 : halo; and R2, R3 : H or halo. An independent claim is included for a polymer composition obtained by the method.</p> |
