The present invention relates to a composition of 1-O-alkylglycerol (AKG), characterised in that said composition comprises (in wt %): - at least 85% of a combination of AKG in C18:1 n-9 and C16:1; - less than 0.5% of AKG in C18:0; - less than 15% of AKG in C12:0 and C14:0. The invention also relates to the use of such a composition for the production of a drug for treating cancer.
