PURPOSE: A broadcast signal receiver, and a data stream receiving device and a method thereof are provided to detect packet latency or packet loss of data which are transmitted in a real time streaming method through a network, thereby efficiently expanding a buffer capacity. CONSTITUTION: A buffer unit(22) buffers data streams received through a network. A display unit(23) displays an image according to the buffered data streams. When a transfer rate of the data streams is a first rate or a second rate which is different from the first rate, the amount of the data streams stored in the buffer unit are different.
