<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide dispersion sol of silica-based fine particles, which is extremely stable in an acidic region, a method for producing the dispersion sol, and a coating material composition including the dispersion sol. <P>SOLUTION: The dispersion sol includes silica-based fine particles with an anisotropic shape, and a surface of the silica-based fine particle bears a negative charge, further the surface of the silica-based fine particle is modified with aluminum, wherein an amount of modification with aluminum is within a range of 0.01×10<SP POS="POST">-6</SP>to 2.0×10<SP POS="POST">-6</SP>mol/m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>per unit surface area of the silica-based fine particle in terms of Al<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>. An average particle size (D1) of the silica-based fine particle measured by the dynamic light scattering method is in the range of 15-70 nm, an average particle size (D2) thereof measured by the BET method is in the range of 10-50 nm, and a value of degree of heteromorphism (D1/D2) thereof is in the range of 1.55-4.00. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
