<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly versatile power supply capable of facilitating system design at a low cost, and to provide a power supply system and a control method therefor. <P>SOLUTION: The power supply system comprises: a plurality of battery modules M1, M2, ..., Mn each having a secondary battery 10 which can store electric power by charging, a charge/discharge circuit 20 which regulates the charging and discharging power of the secondary battery 10, and power supply I/O terminals P11, P12, ..., Pn1, Pn2 used for input/output of DC power of the charge/discharge circuit 20 and arranged in parallel connection; and a host controller 40 which transmits an output power command value at the time of powering and a charging power command value at the time of charging to the battery modules M1, M2, ..., Mn.
