The method involves providing a filtering element (101) that is made of thermoplastic material, where the filtering element comprises a set of folds extending transversely between two sides of the filtering element. The filtering element is cut (104) along a cutting surface. An end of one of the folds is folded back (106) against an end of the other fold to form a side that extends along the cutting surface with a plane, where one of the sides of the filtering element extends along the plane.
