PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering system for a vehicle, which can mechanically improve the steering feeling with a simple structure. SOLUTION: The electrical steering system comprises a steering member 2, an input shaft 9 connected to the steering member 2, an output shaft 10 relatively rotatably connected to the input shaft 9, a torque sensor 15 to detect the steering torque based on the relative rotation of the input shaft 9 and the output shaft 10, and a frictional resistance applying mechanism 28 installed in the steering member 2 side from the torque sensor 15 and giving the frictional resistance of a certain value to the input shaft 9. The frictional resistance applying mechanism 28 has a frictional member 29 sliding with the peripheral surface of the input shaft 9. The frictional member 29 is pressed against the peripheral surface with a coil spring 32. The frictional resistance applying mechanism 28 applies the frictional resistance to the input shaft 9, so that a steering reaction can be applied to a driver via the steering member 2.
