<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system that quickens activation of a bypass catalyst and a main catalyst than conventionally. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust system of an engine includes: first exhaust passages for each of cylinders connected to the respective cylinders; a second exhaust passage composed by merging all of the first exhaust passages; a first catalyst interposed in the second exhaust passage and having a diffuser at an upstream end; and a second catalyst interposed also in the second exhaust passage at the further downstream side than the first catalyst; and a head flange (22) mounted on an exhaust port outlet of a cylinder head.
