<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a circuit that resizes input image data and outputs it to resize image data that does not conform to a restriction on specifications of the circuit without degrading image quality. <P>SOLUTION: A projector 11 includes: a resizing circuit 133 having a restriction such that image data is resized to be an integral multiple of a predetermined data unit in any of first and second directions; and a rotation processing circuit 131. In resizing the image data to be processed using the resizing circuit 133 in a restricted direction, a control part 103 expands the size of the rotated image data to be processed in the first direction to become an integral multiple of the predetermined data unit.
