SILICON CARBIDE-BASED FIBER SEWING THREAD AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SILICON CARBIDE-BASED FIBER SEWING THREAD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon carbide-based fiber sewing thread that keeps high mechanical strength of silicon carbide-based fiber and has high durability against abrasion with a pinhole caused when used for sewing.

SOLUTION: A silicon carbide-based fiber sewing thread comprises: a core yarn obtained by arranging a meltable yarn on a surface of a silicon carbide-based fiber yarn; and a synthetic fiber winding yarn covering the core yarn. A method for manufacturing a silicon carbide-based fiber sewing thread comprises the steps of: obtaining a core yarn by arranging a meltable yarn on a silicon carbide-based fiber yarn; covering the core yarn with a synthetic fiber winding yarn; and heating the resultant yarns.
