<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle mass estimation device capable of estimating vehicle mass from rotating speed information on wheels without depending upon a travel state of a vehicle nor requiring information on axle shaft torque etc. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided the device which estimates the mass of the vehicle based upon rotating speed information on the wheels mounted on the vehicle. The device includes wheel rotating speed information detection means 1 of detecting rotating speed information on each wheel of the vehicle; frequency characteristic estimation means of calculate wheel acceleration information from the rotating speed information on the wheels, and estimating frequency characteristics of the wheel acceleration information; and vehicle mass estimation means of estimating the vehicle mass based upon the estimated frequency characteristics. The frequency characteristic estimation means calculates an integrated value of frequency gains of the front wheels and rear wheels of the vehicle in respective frequency ranges, and the vehicle mass estimation means estimates the vehicle mass based upon the relation between the ratio of integrated values of the front wheels and rear wheels, a previously found ratio, and the vehicle mass. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
