<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fan-out component for a multi-core fiber (MCF) which is reduced in size, decreases costs and improves reliability. <P>SOLUTION: A fan-out component for an MCF comprises a first ferrule 102, a plurality of small-diameter fibers 101 and a second ferrule 101. The first ferrule 102 has a first guide hole 102a of which the cross section is circular and of which the diameter is equal to a clad diameter of an MCF 120, and fixes the MCF 120 to the first guide hole 102a. The plurality of small-diameter fibers 110 are provided as many as the number of cores of the MCF and has a clad diameter equal to an interval of neighboring cores in the MCF 120. The second ferrule 101 has a second guide hole 101a of which the cross section is circular, the plurality of small-diameter fibers 110 are disposed in a close-packed manner in the second guide hole 101a, and a diameter of the second guide hole 101a is approximately equal to the diameter of a circle circumscribed to the plurality of small-diameter fibers 110. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
