PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a β-secretase inhibitor with high safety, and food and drink including β-secretase inhibitor, and an inhibition rate measuring method to measure an inhibition rate thereof with excellent accuracy.

SOLUTION: The β-secretase inhibitor includes an essential oil extracted from at least one raw material of clove, katsura, cardamon, clary sage, pencil cedar, bergamot, cabbage rose, damask rose, caraway, coriander, celery, tarragon, citrus aurantium, cumin, bay, cypress, geranium, vetiver, tagetes, patchouli, amyris, Jasminum grandiflorum, Acorus calamus, davana, curry leaf, and nigella.
