<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new type photochromic material exhibiting a reversible structure change (color change) by the irradiation of light. <P>SOLUTION: The new compound includes bi-imidazole represented by formula (1) as a basic skeleton, and exhibits photochromism by the introduction of a bulky substituent. The molecule exhibits a photochromic characteristic wherein the molecule is pale yellow in a stable state, is isomerized into a colorless structure by the irradiation of light, is isomerized to a red color compound, when left under a shaded state, and is then isomerized into the original pale yellow color. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
