<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a defrosting time. <P>SOLUTION: A cooling storage in which a defrosting operation is performed during a cooling operation includes an all-day timer 32 which transmits a defrosting request signal, an operation condition detection portion 36 which detects the operation condition of a compressor 26, and an operation control portion 40 which starts the defrosting operation under conditions that the compressor 26 is in a halt condition and a storage interior temperature tr detected by a storage interior thermistor 30 reaches a predetermined value. If the defrosting request signal is transmitted and the timing thereof is in the operation of the compressor 26, the compressor 26 halts and then starts the defrosting operation after waiting for the storage interior temperature to reach the predetermined value. If the timing of the transmission of the defrosting request signal is in the halt of the compressor 26, the compressor starts the defrosting operation under the condition that the storage interior temperature has already reached the predetermined value.
