<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic analysis apparatus which is capable of avoiding the occurrence of serious trouble in a measurement result or an analysis result of the automatic analysis apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A sample to be examined is sucked from a sample container including a recording medium on which identification information on the sample to be examined has been recorded, thereby performing analysis. An automatic analysis apparatus comprises a sampling probe, a sampler and a reader. The sampling probe sucks the sample to be examined from the sample container. The sampler moves the sample container to a position for suction by the sampling probe.
