<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an MR ratio of a magnetic recording element. <P>SOLUTION: A magnetic recording element according to an embodiment comprises: a magnetic recording layer 11 in which magnetization is variable and a magnetization easy axis direction is vertical to a film surface; a magnetic adhesion layer 12 fixed such that magnetization is vertical to the film surface; a non-magnetic barrier layer 13 provided between the magnetic recording layer 11 and the magnetic adhesion layer 12; and an insertion layer 14 provided between the magnetic recording layer 11 and the non-magnetic barrier layer 13.
