<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus in which a license code is issued to the recording apparatus, the code is analyzed, and limitation of the use of consumables etc used in the recording apparatus is enabled based on the analysis result. <P>SOLUTION: The recording apparatus is a recording means for receiving image data transmitted from a host computer and printing the image data, and has an input means for inputting a license code and an analysis means for analyzing the license code.
