<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus employing an in-line system that suppresses deterioration of a photoreceptor due to discharge from a charging member in an image forming unit that does not form images, while suppressing blowout of a waste toner container in the image forming unit that does not form images due to transfer residual toner in a black monochrome mode. <P>SOLUTION: In a monochromatic image formation mode, an image forming unit that does not form images exposes light to an area including a printing part remaining on an intermediate transfer body after transfer to a recording medium depending on a formed image pattern, and does not expose light to a non-printing area; and an image forming unit that forms images recovers secondary transfer residual toner. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
