<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, an image processing method, and a program that are able to perform converting even image data having a large number of pixels, such as a photograph, into printing image data in a short time by using a small image converting memory. <P>SOLUTION: An image printing apparatus 1 comprises: an original image data storage unit 43a that stores original image data 51; a reduced image generating unit 41a that performs compression processing on the original image data 51 to generate reduced image data 52; an image conversion processing unit 41b that performs image conversion from the reduced image data 52 into painterly image data 53 as converted reduced-image data on the basis of designated image conversion characteristics; a printing image data generating processing unit 41c that performs decompression processing from the painterly image data 53 into printing image data 54 whose number of pixels is greater than that of the reduced image data 52; and a printing processing unit 41d and a printer 47 that execute processing of printing the printing image data 54 on a medium for printing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
