<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyvinyl acetal having a low degree of polymerization and excellent in solubility to a solvent, without causing the reaction inhibition, the coarsening of particles and the coloration; and to provide a polyvinyl acetal produced by the same. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing a polyvinyl acetal includes a step 1 of bringing a polyvinyl alcohol into contact with hydrogen peroxide to make the polyvinyl alcohol of a low molecular weight, a step 2 of bringing the low-molecular weight polyvinyl alcohol into contact with catalase, and a step 3 of reacting the low-molecular weight polyvinyl alcohol with an aldehyde in an acidic condition using an acid catalyst to acetalize the polyvinyl alcohol. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
