PURPOSE: A method and device for detecting the head position of a running vehicle capable of high-speed processing is provided to accurately detect the head position of a running vehicle by reducing the affecting factors like light or shadow. CONSTITUTION: A method for detecting the head position of a running vehicle is as follows. An image of head part and background of a running vehicle are taken with an image sensor(S11). The differential picture between is produced based on the taken images(S12). The luminance integration according to the fixed direction of the image is performed according to each image. The projecting brightness distribution is produced. The differential projecting brightness distribution is calculated by using the calculated the difference of two projecting brightness distribution(S13). The location of the head part of the running vehicle is recognized(S16). |
