<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which more appropriately allocates gradations of an image even if the image has a bias in a gradation distribution, so as to obtain a posterization image looking better. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing part 300 included in an image processing apparatus comprises: a histogram extension processing part 310 for performing first gradation conversion processing on an input image by using a first gradation conversion characteristic, so that the dispersion of a histogram of each pixel value of pixels composing an image after the first gradation conversion processing increases as compared to the dispersion of a histogram of an image before the first gradation conversion processing; and a posterization processing part 320 for performing second gradation conversion processing on the image processed by the histogram extension processing part 310 by using a second gradation conversion characteristic in which a relation of an output value to an input value is defined by a step function, so as to generate a posterization image in which the number of gradations is decreased as compared to an image before the second gradation conversion processing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
