PURPOSE: A portable terminal, a control method, and a server are provided to use a variable filter according to a kind of a sound output device connecting to a portable terminal. CONSTITUTION: A wireless communication unit(110) receives the information of a digital filter from a server. A multimedia module(181) filters a sound source decoded by the digital filter. The sound source is generated by using the information of the digital filter. The information of the digital filter is generated by using a first frequency characteristic and a second frequency characteristic in the server. The first frequency characteristic corresponds to terminal identification information. The second frequency characteristic corresponds to the identification information of a sound output device connecting to a terminal.
