<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain generation of dark spots or exfoliation of a negative electrode due to moisture content of a display device having a light emitting element. <P>SOLUTION: A light emitting element having a first electrode, an organic compound layer on the first electrode and a second electrode on the organic compound layer is formed on a first substrate. A second substrate is selectively excavated by a sand-blast method, to form a first region, a second region surrounded by the first region and recessed to the first region, and a third region recessed to the second region. A drying agent is provided in the third region, to adhere the first region of the second substrate and the first substrate using an adhesive. In this manner, the second region recessed to the first region is formed on the second substrate, so that an adhesive layer used when it is adhered to the first substrate can be made thin, so as to prevent the moisture content from entering a sealed space. Also, only a portion provided with the drying agent is further processed into a recess shape, so that a volume itself of the sealed space which the moisture content might enter can be made as small as possible.
