<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure discharge lamp lighting device that performs current waveform control for flicker suppression with respect to a high wattage lamp. <P>SOLUTION: A high pressure discharge lamp lighting device has: a power supplying circuit supplying an AC current to a high pressure discharge lamp with a rated power of 200-330 W; a detection circuit detecting a lamp voltage; and a controller controlling an output current waveform of the power supplying circuit on the basis of the detected lamp voltage. In the high pressure discharge lamp lighting device, one unit of the AC current is configured by a current part I1 continuing for m cycles at frequency f1 and a rectangular wave current part I2 continuing for n cycles at frequency f2. A half cycle of the current part I1 is configured by a base current part Ib configured by a rectangular wave of the half cycle and a peak current part Ip at high frequency. In the peak current part, a current peak value of the half cycle on the same polarity side as the immediately preceding base current part is higher than the base current part. The controller is configured to control the power supplying circuit so as to increase a ratio of a duration time period n/f2 of the current part I2 in response to an increase in the detected lamp voltage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
