METHOD FOR CONTROLLING EXTRUSION PRESS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling an extrusion press which can shorten the cycle time by making the time reaching a predetermined product extruding speed constant at the time of starting extrusion in an extrusion process, and heighten energy efficiency.

SOLUTION: Rise of speed at the start of extrusion is controlled such that: calculating required extruding force from the extrusion product; calculating degree of extrusion difficulty level of the extruded product by comparing the calculated required extruding force and the rated extruding force of the extrusion press used for extrusion of the extrusion product; setting required number of hydraulic pump based on the calculated degree of extrusion difficulty; performing on load of the required number of hydraulic pumps based on the set required number of the hydraulic pump; and supplying the required amount of oil to the main cylinder and side cylinder.
