PURPOSE: An electric side mirror is provided to prevent a driver from dazzling by leaning the side mirror to the rear of a vehicle and to improve safety for driving at night by preventing visibility of the side mirror from degrading. CONSTITUTION: An electric side mirror comprises a side mirror switch, a side mirror motor, a side mirror motor driving unit, an optical sensor, and a control unit. The optical sensor is installed in the side mirror and detects the size of a headlight beam of a rear vehicle irradiated in the side mirror. When a side mirror control signal is received from the side mirror switch, the control unit calculates the size and direction for operating the side mirror to obtain the predetermined size for preventing a driver from dazzling and outputs the side mirror control signal to the side mirror motor driving unit.
