<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material evaluation method capable of efficiently evaluating leakage probability before rupture relating to material to be applied to piping or the like of a nuclear power plant, and to provide a material selection method using the material evaluation method. <P>SOLUTION: A Charpy impact value and a value of tensile strength of material are obtained, and on the basis of the Charpy impact value, correspondence [J-T](1) between a J integrated value of an elastoplasticity fracture mechanics parameter of the material and a tearing modulus is calculated. On the basis of the measurement value of the tensile strength and a reference value, a stress factor SF is calculated, and on the basis of the stress factor SF, correspondence [J-T](2) between a J integrated value of an elastoplasticity fracture mechanics parameter with which leakage before rupture of the material occurs and the tearing modulus is calculated, then the [J-T](1) and the [J-T](2) are compared. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
