<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device capable of high speed read out, and making output thereof available not only to focus detection but also to an image signal. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging device includes a pixel having a microlens, a plurality of photoelectric conversion regions disposed at each of the pixel, and adding means disposed at each of the pixel, for adding signals from the photoelectric conversion regions. A plurality of the pixels is disposed two-dimensionally in a horizontal direction and in a vertical direction. The pixels are divided into regions: an addition reading region in which signals are added with the signals from the photoelectric conversion regions by the adding means and outputted; and an individual reading region in which signals are not added with the signal from the photoelectric conversion regions by the adding means and outputted.
