<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an installation place determination means capable of properly determining a use place, and to provide a projection type display device capable of determining setting values of various adjustment mechanisms at appropriate adjustment values in accordance with each use place. <P>SOLUTION: A projection type display device includes installation adjustment setting information storage means that stores at least one or more pieces of installation adjustment setting information, and installation place determination means that determines whether a use place corresponds to one or more predetermined places. The projection type display device controls installation adjustment setting information to be read from the installation adjustment setting information storage means in accordance with the determination result by the installation place determination means.
