<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin identification device which can suppress the adverse effect of detection of a coin due to a foreign matter on a conveyance surface. <P>SOLUTION: A coin identification device comprises: a conveyance surface where a coin is conveyed; a detection member for detecting the coin on the conveyance surface; and a first hole part which is disposed around a detection region of the detection member in the conveyance surface and accepts a foreign matter.
