<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a headrest configured to be capable of appropriately receive the head of an occupant on a rear end collision while maintaining good cushioning property in normal use. <P>SOLUTION: A headrest 10 includes a front face 11 to be fitted from behind the head of an occupant, a rear face 12 located behind the front face 11 and mounted and supported on an upper part of a seat back, and a connecting structure 13 connecting the front face 11 and the rear face 12. The connecting structure 13 includes an inhibition mechanism 13A and a compression spring 13B. The inhibition mechanism 13A allows rearward movement of the front face 11 in normal time for a force that pushes the front face 11 toward the rear side caused by a load of the head of the occupant received by the front face 11; however, when the head of the occupant pushes at a drastically high speed to the front face due to a rear end collision of the vehicle, which pushes the front face 11 rearward, the inhibition mechanism 13A develops a viscous resistive force proportional to the speed to inhibit rearward movement of the front face 11. The compression spring 13B applies a biasing force in a forward movement direction to the front face 11 and holds the front face 11 at the initial position before the rearward movement. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
