<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise of a chain-type continuously variable transmission in the frequency band of 3 to 5 kHz. <P>SOLUTION: A chain is formed by coupling, in the circumferential direction of the chain, chain elements including plate-shape links arranged in the width direction of the chain and pins 42 extending through the links in the width direction of the chain. The pin 42 is clamped between two substantially conical opposing surfaces 24 and 26 of a pulley 12. The deformation ratio of the pin length when the pin is clamped by the pulley is set to be 1.3×10<SP POS="POST">-6</SP>(1/N) or greater. The deformation ratio of the pin length is represented by (deformation ratio)=ΔL/(F×L), wherein L represents a length of the pin, F represents a load applied to the pin, and ΔL represents a deformation quantity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
