PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of more surely preventing a user from perceiving color breakup, and to provide a method for controlling the same.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises: a liquid crystal panel; a backlight having a plurality of color light sources for emitting light with colors different from one another and a white light source for emitting light with white color; and control means for controlling a light-emitting period of the white light source. The lengths of the light-emitting period of the plurality of color light sources in one frame period are different from one another, and the control means preferentially allocates the light-emitting period of the white light source in a period during which only a color light source that is a part of the plurality of color light sources emits light. |
