PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve image quality by reducing color shift or false color that occurs in an image read by an imaging device.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes a YCC color space converting unit 25 that converts image data comprising RGB signals read by an imaging device into converted image data comprising a brightness signal and a chrominance signal, a brightness/saturation determination unit 26 that determines whether or not the converted image data has low brightness and low color saturation, and a filter processing unit 27 that performs smoothing processing on the chrominance signal of the converted image data having low brightness and low color saturation.
